Phillip Walker
Phillip Walker is no stranger to Lakeland.
Born and raised here, Phillip graduated from Kathleen High School. Prior to building his business as owner and principal of a local Allstate Insurance agency, Walker was a Lakeland Police Officer.
In 2010 Phillip was elected to serve as Lakeland City Commissioner. Recognized for his consistent, conservative leadership on the Commission, he has held the line on taxes, cut regulations to encourage high-wage jobs and made sure our streets were safe.
As a City Commissioner, Walker serves on the following committees: Legislative, Utility, Real Estate and Transportation, Lakeland Area Mass Transit District and the Transportation Planning Organization.
Sworn in this year as president of the Florida League of Cities, he also serves on the Florida Municipal Insurance Trust Board and is Immediate Past President of the Florida Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials.
Despite the demands of his official duties, Walker remains actively involved as a volunteer leader in several community organizations. He serves on the Advisory Board for the Salvation Army, the Board of Directors for Chapters Health System and Christ Community Christian Center Church, and the Board of Trustees for McKeel Academy of Technology. He is also Founder and Board Member of the Lakeland/Polk County Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.
In 2015 Walker was inducted into the Kathleen High School Hall of Fame.
Phillip is married to Cappie (Cooke). They have three children, Janelle, Jaela and Christian Phillip, and one granddaughter, Zoë. There are also two other young men who are a part of his immediate family, Tony and John Eric.
